Welcome to the River...I'm Steve, and I will be your ranger today...
This is my first season working as a river ranger for the National Park Service, and I'm excited to share stories from the river along with pictures and videos from inside the park. 2026 marks my return to the green and grey. I was previously an interp ranger at multiple parks before taking a decade-long break to do some other stuff. During that time, I did a lot of other jobs, including some years in the Army and commercial whitewater experience on the New and Gauley Rivers in West Virginia.
This page is the main location that I'll be posting updates from my time traveling the country in 2026, working on the Yampa and the Green, and my off-duty adventures. Check back often because I'll try to update regularly when I'm not away from service on the river.
